On January 7, 2025, Rutgers University Libraries' EBSCOhost databases will migrate to EBSCOhost's New User Interface (New UI). Each of RUL's EBSCOhost databases has a preview link in the "Connection Note" section of its database list entry (for example, see Academic Search Premier).
If you have a MyEBSCO personal account, the articles, books, videos, and images you have saved in the default folder, "My Folder," will automatically sync with the newUI; these items require no action on your part! However, if you created your own Custom Folders, in order for their contents to be ready to use in the NewUI on January 7, you will need to move your Custom Folders content into My Folder.
If you would like these content types to be saved to your personal account in the New EBSCOhost UI, you will need to recreate them in the New EBSCOhost UI.
1. Access any EBSCOhost database (such as Academic Search Premier) using the classic UI.
2. In the blue navigation bar at the top, click Sign In.
3. Sign in with your EBSCOhost username and password. Then click the Folder link in the menu bar to access your Folder contents.
4. Look for the "My Custom" section. If you have created custom folders, they will be here. In this example, the user has created 3 custom folders:
5. Select one of your custom folders so its items display. In this case, the user has selected her "Bio 302 Articles" custom folder, and its 5 items display. Click the Select All checkbox to select all your items. Then go to the Move To menu and select My Folder to move your items into My Folder.
6. You will see your items have been moved into My Folder. In this example, we see that the 5 articles that were in the user's Custom Folder are now in My Folder:
Repeat these steps for each of your Custom Folders.
All your My Folder articles, books, videos, and images are automatically synced to the EBSCOhost New UI. You can currently preview the EBSCOhost New UI using the "You May Access the New UI now" link in any of RUL's EBSCOhost database pages (such as Academic Search Premier). Once you access the New UI, you can sign into your account and then, in the My Dashboard menu, select the "Saved" option to view all your content from My Folder.
In the New UI, you can re-create your custom folder structure--create a Project for each of your Custom Folders, and in the Saved section, select each item that was in a Custom Folder and move it into its corresponding Project. Check the Using the Dashboard in the New EBSCO Interfaces documentation from EBSCO for more detail on how to use these features in the New UI.
Even if they are saved in My Folder, the following content types will not automatically migrate to the New UI:
If you wish to manually recreate these saved items in the New UI, we recommend doing so prior to January 7. You may find it easiest to first Save or Export your items from EBSCOhost and then use your exported file as a reference point to recreate the items in the New UI. When you are viewing your items in your folder structure, simply select your items and then either Save as File or Export:
Then you can use your saved or exported file as a reference point when you re-create your saved items in the New UI. Please use the New EBSCOhost Interface QuickStart Guide to learn how to use the new interface to find and save items. You may especially want to consult the Using the Dashboard documentation to learn how to organize your saved items in the New UI.
